Lane Garrison - I'm Breaking Race Barrier In Jail
omigod so cute
[info]tweener4me
Lane Garrison has become an incarcerated version of Martin Luther King Jr., trying to integrate the inmates at L.A. County Jail.

The way it works as a practical matter ... inmates traditionally stick with their own race -- they eat together, congregate together during recreational hours and so on. And sources in the Sheriff's Dept. tell us ... the separation actually keeps the jail safer.

We're told Lane is trying to crack the race barrier and he's focusing on something universal to all ... food. Lane is trying to get people of all races together during meal time and is telling friends it's actually starting to stick.

Lane is saying he's been able to get African Americans, Hispanics and Caucasians to eat together and they're talking, laughing and generally getting along.

Lane's experiment may be short-lived. He's supposed to get out of jail on June 29. He's being held on a parole hold after his domestic violence arrest last month.

As RumorFix reported last week, Lane Garrison is mentoring fellow inmates in prison – and they clearly appreciate the effort.

After Lane’s hearing on Wednesday (also his birthday), his sister Amelia showed RumorFix a gift of artwork the actor received from a fellow inmate.

Lane is due to be released from jail on June 29; a pretrial date has been set for June 11

Lane Garrison Pleads Not Guilty To Domestic Violence
[info]tweener4me
Lane Garrison just pled "not guilty" to misdemeanor domestic violence -- after he was charged with striking his ex-GF in the face during a blowout fight last month.

Lane has remained in custody since his April 22nd arrest due to unresolved concerns about his parole status, stemming from his 2007 vehicular manslaughter conviction.

He's scheduled to be let out on $50,000 bail on June 29th. A pretrial hearing has been set for July 11th.

TMZ posted surveillance footage of last month's fight -- which appears to show Lane hitting Ashley Mattingly in the face.

Lane has insisted from the beginning, he did NOT make contact with her -- he was simply trying to retrieve his phone, which Ashley had grabbed from him.

Lane's lawyer tells TMZ, the actor will attend AA while he's out on bail, and will NOT be contacting his ex whatsoever.

Lane Garrison Out Of Solitary Confinement; Mentoring Inmates

Prison Break actor Lane Garrison remains behind bars, charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend Ashley Mattingly, but RumorFix has learned that the actor is out of solitary confinement.

Garrison’s lawyer tells RumorFix that his client is now mentoring about 20 inmates –teaching a scriptwriting and acting class. Garrison had been placed in solitary confinement earlier this month out of fear for his safety, but those fears have apparently dissipated.

Garrison also promises to come back once a week for a year and continue mentoring after he gets out of jail. “They have in the LA County Jail to educate prisoners to help them get jobs afterwards … he knows how the system operates and he wants to be able to explain to them how to get a job once they get out,” his lawyer adds.

The actor is due back in court next week for a hearing.

Lane Garrison’s Reality Show Shelved
[info]tweener4me
Actor Lane Garrison’s recent legal troubles may cost him a job with a new reality show, RumorFix has learned exclusively.

The Prison Break star was attached to host a new prison reality show and “he was a total pro,” says someone who heard the pitch.

Our source goes on to say, “Lane was compelling in the room, he showed up early and was very energetic.”

So when Garrison was charged with assaulting his girlfriend, Playboy Playmate Ashley Mattingly, on Thursday, “It took everybody by surprise,” says our source.
We hear the show is now tentatively on hold until Garrison works his way through the legal process. But — as they say in show biz — the show must go on, word is the producers may do the show without him.

The 31-year-0ld is currently being held without bail. He is on a parole hold for a vehicular manslaughter conviction in 2007.

If convicted of domestic violence, he faces a year in jail.

Lane Garrison In Solitary Confinement & Can’t Talk To His Own Attorney

It seems actor Lane Garrison has at a court hearing every week– and it’s for a good reason — it’s the only way he can talk to his attorney and family right now, RumorFix has learned.

The Prison Break actor, who is charge with assaulting his ex- girlfriend Playboy Playmate Ashley Mattingly, is in solitary confinement at the LA County Jail for his own safety.

That means he can’t make phone calls — and his own attorney is having a hard time talking to the actor.

While the judge can’t control what happens in the jail, he can dictate what happens in court — so on Friday Garrison was allowed to talk to his attorney, make a phone call and he was granted 15 minutes to meet with his sister, Amelia.

Later Amelia told the press, “He’s doing well. He’s holding [up] in there. He is not struggling, he’s being strong and we’ll see what happens next week.”

Lane is due back in court on May 16. He’s being held without bail on a parole hold for a vehicular manslaughter conviction in 2007.

Lane Garrison Ordered to Stay Away from GF ... While Stuck in Jail
[info]tweener4me
Exclusive

Lane Garrison has just been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend -- whom he allegedly hit in the face last month during a nuclear argument -- but that shouldn't be a problem ... because he's still stuck in jail.

Lane just appeared in court -- where he was expected to enter a "not guilty" plea to misdemeanor domestic violence -- but the judge postponed the arraignment due to some lingering questions regarding his parole status.

Lane is currently on parole stemming from his 2007 vehicular manslaughter conviction -- and has remained in custody on a parole hold since his April 22nd arrest for allegedly hitting Ashley Mattingly.

Lane's parole was supposed to end last Saturday, but the arrest threw a monkey wrench in the works -- and now, parole board officials are holding him in custody 'til they figure out their next move.

The judge conditionally set bail at $50,000 today -- but Lane can ONLY bail out if the parole hold is lifted first.

Translation: Lane ain't going anywhere ... at least for now. His arraignment has been rescheduled for Friday.
